At College Of My Choice, I specialize in high-quality private instruction for the ACT and SAT exam and college application essays in the North County San Diego area (Del Mar, Encinitas, and Rancho Santa Fe). I typically have a wait list for new students, but not always. If you are interested in private tutoring, and you live in the North County San Diego area, please email me at: email@example.com.
For over twenty years, Cristin has intensively worked with students in test preparation. In 1995, Cristin became an SAT instructor IVY-West in the Los Angeles area. When she moved to San Diego in 1996, Cristin continued to coach students privately and to teach group classes at Francis Parker, UC- Irvine Extension, and CAL-Soap. In 2000, Cristin started her business, College of My Choice. Since then, she has helped over one thousand students raise their scores, becoming one of the few expert instructors (15+ years of experience) in the San Diego area. In 2014, Cristin also completed her Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA Extension, so she can even better serve her students and families navigating the college admissions process.
In addition to preparing students for college entrance exams, Cristin lectures at UCSD, Department of Sociology (from where she received her doctorate in 2004). Previously, Cristin was a Regents Fellow and an instructor for the writing programs at Muir College and Thurgood Marshall College at UCSD. In 2011, research from her dissertation was featured at the San Diego History Center in Balboa Park, where she also served as a consultant for the exhibit. When Cristin is not working with her students, she enjoys visiting Borrego Springs, swimming and playing tennis, and catching up all her Kindle downloads on her iPad!
Here is a Q &A I did for the U-T San Diego, entitled "Should My Teen Take an SAT Prep Class?" Although the article was written in 2009, I think it still offers good advice for parents searching for SAT (and even ACT) test prep options.
Here is a 2011 article in the San Diego Reader. As you can see, I was already a proponent of the ACT test before it became super-popular. Now, more students are more aware of the ACT and must decide which test to take: SAT or ACT.
